If you enjoy the brit pop rock era brought famously to the United States by The Beatles, then you will dig the vibes of Gilkicker. According to their official website, band mates, Sam and Tristan, born in Portsmouth (South UK), would skip school and pass time at Gilkicker Fort in Gosport, an inspiration for their nostalgic single, That Day. They later on found Ollie and Nik, who completed the lineup. They go for 'earthy' and 'real' music that will be 'classic.' [source]

Although their popularity is on the rise, they are not signed to a label, rather, they book their own gigs and manage things on their own. I am not sure if this is what they prefer, but I find it interesting, because their music is good. It makes you wanna dance, it makes you wanna groove and it makes you feel nice and toasty. Maybe the lack of belonging to a label is a good thing. Most Brit bands turn me off by the way they are marketed. It's hard to decipher between what is relevant and what is bland. However, there is nothing bland about Gilkicker. If they were a tea, they would be minty and refreshing, leaving a nice aftertaste. How long their aftertaste lingers depends on their stamina and ability to evolve with their 'classic' 50's and 60's vibe. Check them out!
